Internet Problem.

Garett1

The past few days my internet has been dead slow. My internet speed is normally between 10mbps - 15mbps but recently it has been about 200kbps. Everytime I reset the modem it goes back up to the normal speed and then decreases as I use it. I don't wanna call my ISP quite yet (as they will just tell me whatever it is is my fault) but if nothing else works I will call them tomorrow. I think it is a modem problem. Nothing else is using the internet other than my PC. It isn't windows update, and no torrents or games are downloading in the background.

When the speed slows down is it just the one device that is impacted or all. I would verify that as your ISP would probably want to know.

Time to get a new modem or a new router!

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Wait, why are you going to get a ISP provided device?!?!

No. I just want to see if it is actually the modem that is the problem before I buy it.

I can almost guarantee it...  Check your signal strength on your modem both before and after the problem comes up... if that stays the same then the ISP has nothing to do with it.
