Dx12? Dx11

Ok some games have direct x 12 Mode or a way to enable dx12 but so far they do not work for me. So things run dx11. What's the difference ? Does it mean anything.

DX means games can be developed for Windows much easier.

DX12 is all about multi-threading and directness to the hardware itself. Currently in most cases there is not performance increase, in fact a decrease can be expected. However this is due to developers lack of knowledge and experice with DX12. Once devs are comfortable with it, performance should increase by quite a bit, especially on the low end.

Unless the game is built with DirectX 12 first and not ported from another API, then you more than likely won't notice any lick of differences.
 

What do you mean that they won't work for you, though? Which games?
