amd fx-4300 AMD FX-4300 Tray socket AM3+ processor

Hey, 

I was wondering if the amd fx-4300 was a good processor, looking at the price (€80) it seems strange to me that it is a quad core processor with a core speed of 3800.

Would this be a good processor to put in a budget build of around 600-700 dollars together with the rx 470 or rx 480? I will mainly do gaming on the machine.

Its really not a good processor, hence why it is so cheap. And the fact Zen should be released early next month, they're probably lowering the price even more to try and get the older ones sold.

You made good question,yes it "was" a good processor but not anymore. i3 is much better buy now

I recommend, for that price point, to not even look at AMD CPUs for now. just go Intel, get an i5 6500/6600 with a nice B150M mobo, pair it with an RX470/480 and call it a day.

 

to answer your question: NO. the FX 4100 is a terrible buy for anyone wanting to build a computer above 300 EUR/Dollars. even then, I would just get an Athlon 860K or G3258.

If you're going to build a system today, don't get a 5 year old platform.  Go with the A88X platform.

I think you mean 4300, not 4100.
