Do I need a Phantom Power Supply

I'm looking to buy a Neewer NW-800 microphone, and I want to plug it into my PC's onboard audio. I have an ASUS M5A97 motherboard, and I can't find those specs anywhere. On the product page it says that I can plug it into a PC, but I just want to be sure about it.

Unfortunately it depends on your motherboard. It may need phantom power if your motherboard does not provide enough voltage.

That's what I couldn't find. Do you know how much voltage an M5A97 puts out?

all the reviews are saying it needs a power supply, 48V to be specific. Your motherboard will not put out 48V

yes i saw another review that says it needs 4.5V so theres a bit of inconsistency there. Its possible that the microphone steps the voltage up to 48V internally. There also appears to be a USB adapter available that will power it from 5V. The only consistent information I can find is that it does indeed need some extra power which is expected for this type of microphone. That power supply you linked looks reasonably priced

do you have a sound card? that power supply does not appear to have a 3.5mm output

A normal XLR cable would be needed.

I don't have a sound card. Mostly, I want to know if, A: can I just go from the microphone cable to my mobo, or do I need to get a usb adapter, or even a phantom psu. B: If I get a phantom psu, could I just go straight to the mobo mic input?
