so you call a good seasonic 'cheapo' and a shitty corsair VS is decent to you?

Red/Blue>Gray>Yellow>Gray>Green>Orange if you get it.

But I agree. You don't judge PSU by brand, you judge them by the TIER LIST

Yes.

See, how demanding a game is splits roughly into a few categories (assuming 1080p gaming):

2D pixel graphic (like the AVGN Game, Knight of Pen and Paper etc) - will run on a phone

2D games (like EU4, Civ, Strider) - will run on the integrated CPU of laptops

simple 3D games (CS GO, LoL, TF2) will run on all* gtx, r9 and rx cards

AA (Arma and similarly good looking games) will run on modern gaming GPUs gtx 960 or higher, 1050 or higher, rx 470 or higher, r9 380 o higher

AAA (Far Cry, Battlefront, Crysis) you should get a 1060 or rx 480

So where is GTX 700 series and 600

This list is wrong on so many level

Again, I said some things on this thread, that are not really true scientifically. Yes, the best way of checking out PSUs is reading the long (but good) reviews on PSU enthusiast pages like Jonny Guru (that's how I decided on my PSU back in the day). But this is a lot of work for a new builder. I did not recommend the Seasonic one because I do not have any personal experience with it and it seamed suspiciously cheap.

With the GPU and Game division: I know this is not true, but it helps getting people a rough idea how demanding the various looks of different games are.

Please guys remember, it is more helpful to tell people simplified stuff that is not technically true but gives them an idea of what things are like. No one would tell children "You know when you close your eyes that does not change the wave function for photons reflected off your body" :)

I hope you guys are with me on that point and we can focus on helping Aubinstein

@STRMfrmXMN he needs some SERIOUS help with power supplies if he thinks seasonic is sketchy in any way.

Yet again I can only say that I have no issue with seasonic, just no personal experience. After you implied that this is a very good PSU I read a bit about it and yes it seems to be a very good PSU, so go for it if you can get it

These 50 bucks come from including a CPU cooler and adding 20 bucks for the very significant improvement form getting an SSD. That is basically all I'd do to your list, I really like it, but that is not a reason to go with a noticeably inferior experience in day-to-day performance (as in running and opening programs, browsing, booting windows etc) as well as thermal and noise load.

It is probably worth waiting a few weeks to be able to drop these 50 bucks since they improve the PC a lot.

Yes, a cpu cooler that he doesn't need whatsoever. That stock cooler will be more than enough for an i5. Until he says he can spend extra, stick to the budget.

Well I'd hardly call the stock cooler "more than enough". Yes it will probably do the job, but if prime95 gets the CPU into throttling territory (and uncomfortable 90+ °C), I think you can't call it "more than enough" anymore. It will also be quite loud.

Best option might be to skip it for the first month and upgrade to a proper cooler as fast as possible. This of course only is an option if he is comfortable mocking about with the PC hardware

I don't know what his problem is but Seasonic is probably the best manufacturer of PSUs so

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
