Summary:

On Wednesday, the department of defense joined in the lawsuit against USIS. USIS is a government contractor that handles the background checks for the government programs. A whistle-blower brought to light that the contractor was aiming to boost revenue and maximize profits. They were using proprietary software to automatically release incomplete background checks for the Office of Personnel Management(OPM) that is run by the government. The lawsuit claims that USIS billed the government agency for background checks that were not completed as stated in the contract. The name of the whistle-blower that leaked this information is Blake Percival. He was a former employee of USIS. This contractor did the background checks for the shooter at the Naval Shipyard a little while back.

Thank god for whistle-blowers. I find it ridiculous that the government is contracting their background checks, receiving incomplete background checks and not ever finding out. A former employee had to come out ant tell the government that the reports that they were receiving were not complete. So apparently the same government that can spy on us for our own protection is getting incomplete background checks that are not to the standards agreed upon in the governments contract with USIS, and THEY DID NOT EVEN KNOW. The government should not be trusted with our private information when they cannot even notice that they are getting scammed by one of their own government contractors. And because of the sloppiness of the government, a number of naval officers are dead. Just goes to show you the level of attention to detail government services have.
