My friend wants a laptop for uni for photoshop and video editing. He found the alienware R2 with a discount which he can also add a student discount with of 15%. He asked me if it was a good deal and I wanted to check with you guys since you know a lot more then me. Any advice or better laptop for around £900?

I don't know UK pricing at all, but I feel like you could find something with a 10-series NVidia gpu for that money. Alienware tend to be fairly overpriced IMHO.

A 10 series gpu is normaly over 1000 and is his price range is under 900.

Ah, well the laptop you linked is a good one. I know I have seen 1060 equipped MSI laptops in Canada for under the $1500 CAD mark (903 Pound sterling) but we have some weird pricing over here. And I know that you guys get raped with VAT.

When in doubt, re-format.
