Keep windows 7 if you are comfortable with it, I would say though.

Use 8.1 its more optimized than windows 7 and its recommend for games like bf4. Faster startup, better task manager Also DX 11.2 is exclusive to windows 8/8.1 and will make your graphics card to be able to access your system memory.

If you don't like the start menu you can get something like startisback.

Windows 7 for now, because 8.1 has mouse acceleration issues right now, which completely ruin some games.

 

Cant you fix that by checking disable display scaling on high dpi settings in compatibility?

Or does it not work on all games...

i've been using windows 8.1 for 3 months now (got a free RTM copy from my school) and it boots up pretty fast even though i don't have an SSD. Also, Battlefield 4 is more optimized for windows 8 and windows 8.1
