I have a GTX 1060 3GB GGDR5 + I5 6300HQ 2.3GhZ (boosts to 3.2 but only to 2.78 on games) and I Usually play games at 70% GPU Usage and 88% CPU usage. (EXCEPT TW3 80 gpu 88 cpu)

But in need for speed 2016 my gpu usage drops to 60% and my FPS drop from 65 fps to the low 30's in some areas (just in the centre of the city) but the CPU never reaches +90% usage.

People tell me that its a bottleneck but idk because is a MSI Gaming Laptop and i dont think they could sell me an bottlenecked laptop

What should i do to fix it?

EDIT : Its no VRAM/RAM related it never exceeds 2.8GB/3,072GB and 6GB out of 8GB

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 @ 4.4GHz 1.2v / GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700 Mech OC GP (5700XT Bios) @ 2GHz / MB: Asus ROG Strix B450-F / RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 / CASE: MSI MAG Vampiric 010X

your laptop is not bottlenecked at all ,

so u can tryout the following :.

  • roll back to an older stable driver after completely cleaning out the current driver clutter   use DDu .
  • Run Msi afterburner Osd and monitor ur Temps and core clock (u could be throttling).
  • If this problem occurs with this game specifically then it might be an optimization issue / software related ( although the fps drop u are having is huge ).
  • Check if ur Psu meets the correct TDP for ur rig .

Make sure u are running at high performance power plan from the Ctrl panel.

I used to suffer from the low gpu usage in Farcry 4 and it went away after several game patches / driver updates .

Benchmark ur Laptop and compare ur results to similar configurations

Goodluck

As you can see arround the min 0.37 the gpu usage drops and it goes at 45fps when in the outside of the city i play at 70fps and in the suburbs of the city at nearly 65fps

I Uploaded a new video recorded just an hour ago and as you can see while im outisde the city i get almost 80 fps but when i go into the highway the fps drops till nearly 35fps just wtf (And the GPU usage goes 50% from 90%)

(there's a random sec where CPU Usage goes to 100% but idk why but just 1 sec)
