Checked all them cables? Also the 4-pin connector, to your motherboard? Have you put all components back in the same place? Do they fit propperly?

That's what I started with. :) Have fun with your rebuild pc!

So i just got done transferring over an old pc into a more modern case, and ive been having some troubles with it. It will turn on, all the fans and stuff spin, but i get no bios pop up. The monitor isnt even acting like it is getting a signal, and ive tried turning it off and on again and it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Checked all them cables? Also the 4-pin connector, to your motherboard? Have you put all components back in the same place? Do they fit propperly? Did you take out your ram/CPU/CPU cooler? Does it make beeping sounds? (even if it's just one) Did the installed drive have an OS installed? Do you hear the drive make noise, like it's booting up windows? (only possible if you use an HDD) Sooo many things to check, sooo little info.

I would suggest you start again, and take things slow. Also, try to add the minimal components required to get at least a BIOS post. (for example, don't connect any external soundcards, just one GPU, if your mobo has onboard video, use that, just one stick of ram, try all slots, use second stick of ram and use all slots, don't connect any drives, pull all cables you don't need to the side...)

Old is no reason not to work. Now you are telling us the computer HAS fully booted after you put the hardware in a new case...

And I wonder... Them older computers would "halt" in bios boot, if there was no keyboard connected. (something you can change in bios, but I don't think you have done so before) This makes it highly unlikely it has ever booted up in windows, before you connecting a keyboard into your computer.

Also, if it stopped working after you connected them keyboards and mice, disconnect and test again?

It loaded up its bios, then proceded to go to the screen to allow me to select an OS, since i have windows and linux installed on it. I'll replicate what i did and see if it works, then report back.

Did you use USB or PS/2 mouse/keyboard stuff. Was your pc on/off when you plugged in your keyboard/mouse. (USB is plug & play, PS/2 isn't)

Try resetting your BIOS. To do this, remove the power from your computer. (pull the plug) Look for the battery. It's somewhere, I am sure of it. Remove it. You should now wait 10 seconds, but a minute won't hurt. Your entire BIOS should now have been reset. Check if your computer will boot into BIOS, without keyboard/mouse connected.

Also, considering you had Windows and Linux installed, you would have to make a choice. (or wait 30 seconds, right) Untill you made a choise, you should not hear your HDD working, trying to boot something.

So i unplugged stuff,(usb headers and cd drive) and then plugged them back in, and it works now no problem. Dont really know what the issue was, but thanks!
