Does partitioning affect drives performance?

Hi all, so my laptop is getting quite old now and I've not changed the mechanical drive in it since I first got it.

in its current state I have it triple booted with Windows 10, Ubuntu and Kali Linux and have noticed that the general tasks is incredibly slow and sometimes when booting into windows I get a message saying that it cant even find the partition. I understand that I need to buy a new drive anyway because I'm certain that its about to die anyway, but does making as many separate partitions as I have affect the drives performance even if the laptop is only running 1 OS?

It shouldn't. Have you tried defragmenting it or checking the drive for any errors, or noticing anything wrong with the read write speeds? If so the drive may be dying.
