Hello community,

My very new Canon EOS 1300D has started to play up. On the main screen, I cannot adjust the aperture due to there being "no lens detected". I went to the extent of checking all the pins and connections and cleaning them individually, yet it still shows the same error and still says "Err 01 Communications between the lens and camera is faulty. Clean the lens contacts."

As this is my first DSLR I don't have any spare lenses. I have done a bit of my own research and the results were mixed, with some sending it in for repair and others using a special combination of actions to fix their issue.

Can any of you please suggest options for me to follow as I am stuck at a crossroad. (Experimental methods to fix the issue would be great too)

Thanks in advance.

If you don't have a second Canon lens, go to a camera store and ask if you can test out a lens.  This way you can isolate the problem to either your lens or body.  Then go to the store where you purchased the camera or contact Canon to have it serviced.

Ok, basically, I went to the original store where I purchased it from and tested another lens and it worked. Isolating the issue to the lens. The store will send the camera and lens back to Canon. Now to hope it gets back before January 11.

Thanks for the help.
