Upgrading a graphics card

Hi all

I have a MSI MS-7258 Motherboard which is running an Nvidia 7900gs graphics card and an intel core 2 processor.

What i would like to know it would an Nvidia GT730? I'm not looking to play games but just want to upgrade for a more decent picture quality.

If you're not gaming or doing any image/video work then a new graphics card wont really help. A new monitor would be a much more worthwhile investment.

I have a new monitor which is a Samsung 22" I do a lot of photo editing sorry I forgot to mention that!

What sort of image editing are you doing, Is it simple stuff like recolouring, skewing or are you doing more advanced stuff like using adobe photoshop and/or light room and doing 3d based image editing. The former is cpu based work while the latter is capable of utilising a gpu.

Photoshop and light room i have noticed jagged edges when i make a slide show on this pc but when i play it on a newer pc the jagged edges are not visible

Whether you get jagged edges on the final export will depend on the settings used.

A gpu will help with making the working image closer to final export.
