Don't mess with gaming headsets. Get a nice pair of headphones and later get a nice mic

Gaming headset sucks in general, if you want a gaming headset just go for HyperX Cloud core or cloud 1. Other than that, its better to go for a proper headphone and a nice mic.

For surround sound, since its a software thingy, you can download free of the internet, Razer have one although they are not the best but you get a taste of surround sound. A good headphone can be more fun than a headset with surround sound gimmick in it.

Note: i dislike surround sound so i'm not going to recommend it.

Then go for HyperX Cloud core or Cloud 1 if you need the accessories.

As mentioned above, you can also stick in a v-moda boompro mic into a headphone with detachable 3.5 mm jack. Philips SHP9500 is a good headphone for the money and bundle it with boompro and you get a good sounding headset which beats pretty much most gaming headsets in the market, and they cost below $100 in total.
