does anyone know if there are any keyboard controllers out there premade that just require you to solder on switches

Well there are a few PCBs out there (I'd have to look them up to remember them all) but in order to custom build a keyboard you'd also need a Teensy 2.0 or 2.1 to connect everything and wire it all up.

BOINC Setup:
i5 7200U @ Stock

Core2Duo T6600 @ Stock

i3 2330M @ Stock

i5 3210M @ Stock

Ok, so there's the Plank, Phantom, Ergodox, NerD 60, Atomic PCB, NerD 108, and many, many others (Massdrop polls are also a surprisingly good place to look)

Okay, sorry for the slight necro but I've been looking into this recently. There does exist firmware you can load on a Teensy++ 2.0, and I know it's possible with an ATmega32U4. I'll do some more digging, maybe buy a couple boards and see what happens
