Comptia A plus certification

So I want to get certified so that I can work for my uncle and being certified is a requirement. While I know a lot of hardware stuff and generally speaking I know a lot I am not yet ready for the full test. I was wondering if anyone had taken the test and whether or not they had any tips. I need somewhere where I can learn a lot of the little things.

Lynda.com is a good place to start. They have a bunch of CompTIA prep videos. You'll also want to take some mock exams before the real one until you feel confident.

I probably the absolute person to give tips on an exam I didn't study for (I'm A+ certified btw) but here goes :

 

Check comptia's website for the exam objectives and  make sure you know all the objectives (not literally all but it's good to know the basics of all the areas)

 

 

Those 2 playlists should help with the studying also and make sure to look online for practice tests.

 

And that's all a noob like me has to offer.

Cisco has classes that you can take online for the certification, if you are still in school you can potentially even get credit for taking them.

Thx for the replies, i am currently looking at one of the videos and i will be looking into that cisco stuff as well.

You can get a Lynda 10 day free trial to start with A+. There's a whole series of videos by a guy called Mike Meyers covering the objective points of the 901 and 902 exams. He also has videos for the CompTIA Network+ exam. 

For Cisco, Todd Lammie has a good series for ICND1 and Lazaro Diaz has a continuation series for ICDN2. 

 

Mike Meyers's videos in particular are excellent from what I've watched of them. There's 12 parts in total across the 901 and 902 exams and all of the videos are very well made with very clear speech. The N+ series is 7 parts.
