Hello forum. Today I received AKG k612 pro but they didn't meet my expectations, they have almost no bass and the audio quality is very similar to my 10$ worth Sony headphones. Maybe it's because I have no good soundcard, I'm not sure but could someone recommend me a good headphones which actually gives good bass and has overall good audio quality at around the same price as k612 pro are?

Doesn't matter open or closed tbh. Open is a bit better but haven't seen bassy headphones which are open. Around 150$ budget.

beyerdynamic dt770 pro 250ohm... i love those but you gonna need a amp or something... but there is a lower ohm version which is great too and you dont need an amp :)

Are you looking for "high quality bass" or a more "Thumpy" bass?

That's a hard question and I don't realy know and understand. When I used Steeseries Siberia v2 they had good bass even tho it was a headset.

That headset was actually really, really good. It had a lot of bass that was also high quality (which is also difficult to find) I'll do my best to find something similar to the sound signature.

hold on here. I just want to clear some things up, the k612 are very neutral sounding headphones and their audio quality is high, higher than a lot of 100-200$ headphones, you must not confuse sound signature with audio quality, often you don't notice a upgrade in audio quality, before a week has passed and then you switch back to the lower quality ones. Also it is common to think that audio quality is lower than it really is, when you don't like the sound signature.

I can understand that you don't like that there isn't much bass, since today a lot of cheaper headphones and just generally headsets has a bass boost and often not a small one, and you just get used to that.

Open generally has less bass than closed. For this budget I think you can get some DT990 or HD558, the DT 990 has the more bass than the hd558, but their treble can also be a bit harsh for some people, they have a very V shaped signature, while the HD558 has a balanced sound. I think those two are your main options for open. Maybe look for a pair of used Philips fidelio x2

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

hmm DT770, HD280pro, you might be able to get some k550 or k553.

The thing is, the K612 pro is a really good headphone at any price. Any other headphone under $200 would be a side-grade or a down-grade. Perhaps it takes some time to get used to the flat, frankly boring sound signature.

I already had that booring sound and I was expecting to be blasted away with k612 but instead it feels like I almost didn't even upgrade. There is of course difference between them and $10 Sony but not that noticable IMO.

Does k550 has noicable bass? I couldn't really find much information about them. A guy in review of k612 Pro said that he feels the bass but I don't.

The K550 has a decent bass boost. The information you can find about the k553 pretty much fits the K550..

Well I have no problem with the bass in the K612, but I am also a "neutral" kinda guy. :D

Could it be my sound card fault? Even though when I got my SS Siberia v2 i felt like in heaven when there was bass and could even fee the vibration on head... Even when I don't really care about that I still want the bass to be stronger.

Well the K612 doesn't have a lot of bass and I know a lot of people who would think that they had zero bass. It is 100% okay that you don't like them, audio is very personal preference and we basically all hear things differently

By the way, since you recommended DT770 and I did a bit of research and also they are in the perfect price range for me I decided to go for them or maybe DT990 not sure yet. But what I'm unsure about is that I have two options in amazon which are - 80OHM or 250OHM, of course I don't even know what that would change for me so maybe you can somehow explain for which I should go?

the DT990s are open and has a harsh treble, they are very V shaped in their sound, while the DT 770 are closed and are still v shaped, but less.

the 80 ohm of the dt770 is said to have a bit more bass than the 250ohm, I am not done any a b testing, so not sure if that is true.

both headphones are fairly sensitive and that matter more than the ohm when it comes to how hard they are to drive. If you want to be safe then get the lower ohm model, but you could also just buy the cheapest version of the given model

I'm not sure if I even like V shaped, I'm not sure about anything anymore since I have to think of which headphones to buy for 3 days already. Would you by any chance know bassy headphones which are not V shaped? Is that even a thing? In the same price range as DT770?

I know exactly one headphone that is bassy and not V-shaped: the Philips Fidelio M1. It's possibly the most underrated headphone ever. It was specially tuned for outdoor use with increased bass and diminished treble, without sacrificing detail. The result was a veiled, dark and bassy headphone that sounded great outdoors because the treble didn't murder your ears at higher volumes. Sadly, the headphone got mixed reviews because it fell short compared to similarly-priced headphones like the Sennheiser Momentum or V-Moda M80 at the time. Yet, I would take the M1 over any of these headphones for commuting. I still have my M1s today, but I don't use them much because the Skullcandy Grind is so much comfier. The M1 just clamps my huge head really hard and the headband barely fits me.

You can just ignore this, and move on. But I was excited to get an opportunity to ramble about the Philips M1xD
