So, long story short. Ive been having to keep my computer at my dad's office and it's been there about 6 months. Today I went there to finish some work (computer is connected via WiFi) all was fine and dandy for a while and when I went to send my closing email I had no internet access. I was connected to the network but couldn't load a page on my PC or phone. Once I reset the router it was fine. I haven't had this happen at all in my time up there. Thoughts?

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

Millions of reasons. Need more details.

Do you remember what the error was that came up? possibly a DHCP issue

Sadly not. I'm just paranoid because like I said this is the first time and I spend at least 20 hours up there every weekend. I ran the windows diagnostic tool which of course did nothing lol. Is it the government? :o

The router probably just encountered an issue it couldn't recover from by itself. It happens sometimes, but if it keeps happening you should replace the router.

This is the best bet, could likely be that the DHCP service had a malfunction and needed to be rebooted, and with most consumer grade networking gear you can only achieve this by rebooting the router itself.

No. It is not the government.

Trust me.

There's no saying what it was since you didn't provide any useful troubleshooting information.

Don't lose your sleep over one glitch in the network. They do happen all the time. I know, I work in a NOC.
