Hey forum, I'm planning on building a PC that fit's a really low budget. It's only purpose is to run an minecraft server that has 7 people whitelisted. And I expect it to run 24/7. I'm thinking a dual-core config with 4 gigs of RAM and a really small HDD (like 150GB small) as it's only hosting an MC server. I also plan to keep iton a shelf somewhere and leave it with a small monitor (and i got a usb wireless handheld KB/Trackpad for it, too) So probably no dedicated GPU and a mITX board. So if you guys could reccomend parts that are cheap, and fairly reliable, that'd be great. Thanks!

Already had the link, as this is the rig I plan to use for a Minecraft server, except I have a spare athlon II x4 out, so I'll be using the multicore server.

Athlon chips have no onboard video, so you'd need a video card. Which you don't need.

Sorry, you're not using FM2. My mistake.

But then how is he meant to run the server? Lol.

Once it's setup, you can use remote desktop to control everything.

But he'd need to install windows and sign into his account and download a remote desktop application first right? Or is there another way to do it?

You can setup everything on the HDD by plugging it into your current setup.

Or he can temporarily use the gfx card in his current system, if it's dedicated.

Or get an AMD 5450 for like 20 bucks w/ rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127557

Or get an NVIDIA Quadro NVS290 for 15 bucks on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-NVIDIA-Quadro-NVS-290-GN502UT-256-MB-DDR2-SDRAM-PCI-Express-x16-Graphics-/231066162230

Or borrow a gfx card from a friend for a few hours

Or find an old PC somewhere on the street that has a gfx card and get it for free.

The possibilities are endless, though if you don't want to put in the effort and prefer to do it the easy way, then go ahead and spend the extra 40 dollars on a processor with graphics :)

7 people whitelisted for just 7 people I really don't see the point of buying a new rig a 7 people server must be extremely cheap to rent.

It probably is cheap but i waned it local and expandable as more of my friends join.
