Installed fluxbox (and xorg/xinit) on ubuntu server, ran startx, mouse pointer permanently fixed in corner of screen, although invisible mouse pointer is present, able to open up the right-click menu. It doesn't seem to be a fluxbox thing, that's just the window manager. Checking xorg configs, not finding where to fix it.

Okay I purged things then

sudo apt-get install xorg xserver-xorg fluxbox; sudo dpkg-reconfigure xorg

One of those things made a GUI default on boot, I don't want that.

I'm guessing reconfigure made it boot to GUI, but does the xserver-xorg install the GUI?

I don't even want the gui that it installs, it's a waste, only going to use fluxbox.

Also, I'm testing this on a VM with the same ISO, but the mouse already works fine there (probably because it's a VM).
