*Edit: Long story short what GPU should i get for around $300 (CAD) give or take that will be better than this old 7870

So, the story goes.. im running an Ati 7870, the fans have died a while back so i rigged up a temporary solution (see pic).
The help/advice i need is.

1. Replace stock fans (~$20 on ebay)
2. NZXT Kraken G10 + Cheapest AIO Cooler that is compatible.
3. Upgrade my GPU (i could only swing around $300 for this)

------------ System specs ------------

M5A99FX PRO R2.0

CPU - AMD FX-8350
RAM - 16 GB
GPU - ATI AMD Radeon HD 7870

-------------------------------------------

also i know, its a bit dusty >_<

If it was me, I would personally upgrade my GPU because even if you change fans, you never know when the chip will fail; considering the fans already and and it's been running using a DIY solution till now. I don't know what kind of monitor you have or what settings you want to play at but I would get the RX 480 4GB or 8GB. The Sapphire RX 480 4GB is going for $194.99(179.99 with rebate).

Ok, so this is my PC. i only play games at 1080p cause too poor to 4k. lol

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Enermax 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSC0 DVD/CD Writer
Monitor: Asus VE278Q 27.0" 1920x1080 Monitor

The GTX 1060 and RX 480 are really tempting but kinda on the high side of my budget, remember I'm in Canada and the dollar is weak.
Is there a reason not to go with a GTX 1050, will it perform close to the RX 480 or am i missing something?

This is most likely the one i would get just because its the cheapest dual fan one i could find on PC Part Picker Canada.

Also,
GTX 1050 - Grand Total: $220.78 or GTX 1050 ti - Grand Total: $240.33
Is it worth the extra $40 to get the GTX 1050 ti, GPU Boss comparison.

The GTX 1050 and RX480 are not in the same category; the GTX 1050 doesn't even come close to the RX470. The RX470 is about 35-40% more performance compared to the 1050ti; for about $10-20 more in Canada. If the RX480 is out of reach then I suggest you go with the RX470 4GB. XFX has one for sale at 239.99 on newegg Canada

There is also a MSI and Powercooler version for $10 less but the ratings on the XFX seem much better.

PowerColor is an okay brand, the fan doesn't seem to be that high quality and not sure how the airflow is in your case but it seems to be decent long as their is good airflow in the case. If you don't mind a bit of noise from the gpu fan then go with the 480, if not go with the XFX 470 4GB; the difference between the RX470 and RX480 is not as big as GTX1050 and RX470.
