Hi everyone,

I am facing this issue since last week.i don't know why my PC restarts while gaming somehow i figured out that my PSU is the problem but sometimes pc restarts some it doesn't.i've tried running mem test also ram were having test completed with 0 errors.i have ran heavy load and Futuremark also nothing happened during this test just while gaming after 40 50 min it suddenly restarts.i seriously don't know what is the issue. i have also tried my friends PSU he has the same PSU as mine I have tried gaming in his PSU also no Restarts. i have also checked the temperatures they are fine. one more thing i noticed that my psu is making lil bit more noise than usual does this mean that PSU is dying ? should i buy a new one its not under warranty :( Please if someone have any suggestion i am all ears ..thanks

i have recently bought UPS APC BX1100 c because of the frequent power cuts in my area.

My Rig :

Intel core i7 4790k @ 4ghz

Asus maximus Hero vii

8 GB x 2 Gskill DDR 3 1600 mhz

Corsair Vs 650 PSU

That PSU is shit. Get a proper quality PSU like Seasonic or a Corsair CX650M...

Yes i have updated the windows ...that is the problem ?

Windows update can't cause issues like that

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32

Mice: Logitech G Pro X Superlight (main), Logitech G Pro Wireless, Razer Viper Ultimate, Zowie S1 Divina Blue, Zowie FK1-B Divina Blue, Logitech G Pro (3366 sensor), Glorious Model O, Razer Viper Mini, Logitech G305, Logitech G502, Logitech G402

Maybe your are right that psu is shit but still its not confirmed that this problem is coming coz of the psu only..

This PSU can only supply 500-550W of power... The 660 Ti is a very power hungry card and the 4790K consumes quite a bit of power as well. Your system is drawing a lot of power, the PSU can't supply it, because if it did, it would blow up. Therefore the system shuts down and restarts to save itself. If you get a better PSU, the issue will disappear.

If I were you, I would pull that sucker right out of my computer, and never ever use it again. If you're lucky nothing will happen, and it might just die, if you're unlucky it will kill every single part in your computer.

Depends on whether the PSU is just incapable of giving you the power or if it's dying, and I don't think you have the right equipment to check that, so I would have to say, no, it's not safe.

cool..so can we consider if its ok by looking at the voltages in the bios if something is wrong ..?

So guys i have 2 PSU in my mind right now corsair CX650 M and Corsair RM 650.i think i would go for Corsair RM650 Because it's gold certified and have 5 years warranty + Full modular ..what do you think guys ?

500-550W is the max I pulled from the wall on an FX-9370, dual 7950s in crossfire, though.

Also, he would have had this problem from the beginning. If it is the PSU, the issue is probably more about it aging poorly.

While the PSU may be bad, OP is right in focusing on correctly identifying the problem first, and then decide a course of action.

Maybe the power supply has degraded over time. I think that it is the PSU as those issues are caused by it most of the time...
