1 970s generally perform like a 980 Ti / 1070, but only in games that support SLI and some don't. It's a tradeoff, but on the other hand you're paying $170 for 1070 performance.

Yes worth it. But we need to know which PSU do you have. Is there enough wattage to that?

What mobo? Does it support SLI? Also you need SLI bridge too. And is the case big enough to have another card

Keep in mind that adding another will indeed increase performance, but you will still only have 4gb (3.5gb depending on which camp you're in) of vram, a lot of games will use more than that.

 

I just upgraded from 2x 970's and they were great

A PSU model is more important than its rated power.
