I'm having this issue where my programs are not utilizing my DGPU. Unless I disable the IGPU in the BIOS my DGPU wont be used at all.

I looked online on how to do this (I have a GTX 1070) and people have said that you need to:

  1. Go to the "NVIDIA Control Panel"
  2. Go to "Manage 3D Settings"
  3. Go to "Program Settings" tab
  4. There should be a drop down to choose my preferred graphics processor

How ever I can't do step 4 as I don't have such a setting.

Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution? Other than disabling the IGPU.

The problem isn't my DGPU ports being inadequate; the problem is my display. I have the GTX 1070 and it doesn't support VGA.

Okay, in that case it may not be able to use both at the same time (iGPU and dGPU). Check your motherboard manual to see if it supports that functionality (many Asus boards DO have this feature, having seen it in the options in some of mine)

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling

LAN Rig: R5 3600X @ PBO, RTX 2070, 32 GB DDR4 3200, Dan Case A4-SFV V4, 120mm AIO for the CPU

HTPC: i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz, GTX 1050 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 3200, AliExpress K39, IS-47K Cooler

Router: R3 2200G @ stock, 4GB DDR4 2400, what are cases, stock cooler

I don't have a problem...

Alright. Well, 99% of the cases you just don't switch between the iGPU and dGPU. It's either/or like in your case. Instead the dGPU throttles down when there's no need for power. Just disable the iGPU and get a DP-VGA adapter, or better yet (learn that it's not the 80's anymore and) get a monitor with a digital input.

Sigh, I was afraid of this. Sucks.

BTW, the monitor was a gift. I'd otherwise choose something better, of course.
