Hi guys,

I´m building my first gaming pc and thanks to the advises I got yesterday I decided to take the Intel Core i5-6500 as my CPU. Now it was time to choose the memory and after I did some research I came to the conclusion that 8GB of Ram is enough and that speed doesn´t matter much (correct me if I´m wrong). But even though I have these vague ideas I really don´t know what to buy.

Should I get rather 2x4GB (I heard this would be better) or 1x8GB (for better upradability)?

How much do brands matter and which brands are good?

The best would be if you could tell me what things are best for it´s price right now.

Looking forward to your answers,

Joiner

If you are not planning on upgrading or you are buying a mobo with 4 slots, get 2x4 for the Dual Channel. Speed does not really matter that much, so I'd look for CAS latency rather than MHz, but more is always better ofcourse (except in the case of latency :p).

I'd look at reviews when picking the brand, or just something that fits the colour scheme of the mobo good.
