DATA Horder Dilemma

I have.....well a lot of data, something like 20Tb of files i consider Important, i dont have a proper backup procedure yet, cant afford another 20Tb of hard drives yet (This i for home use not a business), so my question is, until i can get a proper 1:1 backup going, would a raid5 or 6 make my data safer, being able to rebuild the raid vs having to risk all my data if only 1 drive fails

It's definitely better than nothing -- just don't get too comfortable because RAID IS NOT A BACKUP SOLUTION. Read that to yourself over and over lol. Definitely buy more drives as soon as possible to have a real backup.

RAID 5/6 would prevent a problem if one drive were to fail. If you have multiple drives that sit disconnected most of the time, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you have all the drives running all the time I would definitely consider a RAID 5/6 to add some drive tolerance until you get a proper backup solution.
