Random charger temperatures?

So I have a MBPr late 2012, and for some reason sometimes during charging it gets really hot to the touch, yet other times its perfectly fine. I use one of those Belkin power strips, and I wanted to know if maybe somethings wrong with it. Any ideas?

Look back and see what has changed. Did you have a certain USB device plugged in at the time the charger got really hot? Did the battery still charge at a normal rate?

No I only (and always) have the headphones plugged in. As for the rate I didn't pay attention

Next time you charge it, check on the rate of charge. If it seems to be charging slowly when the charger is hot, I would replace the charger as soon as possible. If it is charging normally, I'd say you're safe using it as long as you are cautious with it and the charger's surroundings. Still replace it as soon as you can. Hope this helps!
