RX 470 vs Nvidia 1060 3gb

infernal1991

Ordered Acer XG270HU (1440p 144hz freesync monitor) and i m looking into getting new GPU. Was wondering between RX 470 and 1060 3gb.

I play light games like heroes of the storm, lol, CS so i don't need much in tearms of GPU.

Rest of the hardware: MB-Asus b150 pro

CPU i5 6400

Ram-8 gb 2133 hz Kingston hyperx

Power supply Corsair VS 650 W

I wont be upgrading for very long time so futureproofnes is bonus.

Well the RX 470 will make use of freesync, but the 1060 3gb is a bit more powerful in DX11 and lower. 470 will be better in dx12.

What's your budget?

if you want future proof, go with 1060 6GB or 480 8GB they're not that much expensive.

Better to get a 470 with the freesync and that's more than enough to run lol or cs go. It should also be cheaper than the 1060

1060 is not future proof even so AMD will give longer driver support than Nvidia will.

I do too, better support for DX12, and Vulkan got me hooked.

doesn't change the fact a 1060 isn't future proof... if you're looking to do that you have to be buying a 1070 and upwards of that.

By future proof i don't mean running AAA titles in the future, just continue running esport class games at 1440p with atleast 144 fps.

a 470 will give you that, I can't really play LoL with mine, 700+ fps is broken lol

I just found 480 4gb with price close to the 470 (XFX RADEON RX 480 RS RX-480P4LFB6). Is it worth the 40 euro on top?

To give you better prespective here are the prices:

470 4gb around 210 euro

1060 3gb -230 euro

480 4gb- 250 euro

1060 6gb 310 euro

Comparing to the 470 ? Yes it's worth the extra 40 euros as long as it's not a reference card.

RX470

3gb is not enough anymore and nvidia crippled it

and the rx470 has better value and can make use of freesync
