As the title states, I am planning to build a PC for purely content creation. My main focus are photos, videos and music editing. These are just my side business other than my day job.

Here is my system setup:

I7 6700k stock

32 Gb ram

3 hdd

1 m.2 ssd

1 ssd

Asus strix gtx 1080

NZXT Hue+ led

Corsair RM1000X

I want to know is it worth to get an entirely new PC just for content creation/rendering or should I just upgrade the CPU and Motherboard?

My initial plan was to upgrade the system to a X99 board with either a 6850K or 6900K as I game often as well. But now since I had joined this forum, I would rather get the opinion from you.

Another option is for a new PC with a Xeon E5 2658 V3 and ECC memory.

So what do you guys think? Is it worth an upgrade to a X99 system or another system just for rendering?

Every weekend after filming and shoots.

The i7 6700K will do you fine, the CPU'S on the X99 chipset are designed for someone editing every day 24/7.

That's what I thought initially but having the extra cores and threads would save me a lot of time in the long run as I have tight schedules to meet the deadlines for just a weekend worth of work.

6900k?

I have researched about the price, from where I am, Singapore, it costs around $1.4K to $1.6K for a 6900K. Plus there isn't much being sold here. 6800k, around $500 and a 6850k costs around $700 to $ 800. Which do you think is a better bang for the buck CPU?
