Reset switch doesn't work

I have a Thermaltake Core v1 case along with a GA-h170n-wifi motherboard. I turned on the system with the power button and it was able to boot. Then I tested out the reset switch on the case which did not work. I saw that i connected the front panel header on the wrong pin (one header was on the NC pin while the other was on the + pin for the reset switch). Then, I plugged the reset switch header into the correct position, and it still doesn't work in BIOS/UEFI. Can anyone explain to me if I damaged the headers/pins on the motherboard or the case?

My front panel looks like this:

 however in the motherboard manual pin 9 is called "NC (no connection)," which is what I connected to with the reset switch (again, reset switch was plugged into pin 7 and pin 9 in the diagram). Also as a side note I tested the reset switch in the BIOS/UEFI.
