Steam Update Issues

I have switched the Steam game downloads to my 1TB HDD instead of my SSD for the OS, but I must have forgotten, or didn't know I had to, switch the update data location, and now my SSD is completely full and I can't switch the location of the download data, and can't update.

Wait if the game downloads to HDD then the update should be in HDD too. There is no reason for update and game to be in separate location

Hmm, I'm not sure then, because I'm pretty sure all my games are on my HDD, but when I try to update, it tells me there is no disk space, and when I look my SSD is full

Even if i had made that mistake of not switching the directory, I've redirected it now and it still insists I have no disk space, so do I need to transfer all the old update data from the SSD to the HDD?

do a clean reinstall just in case then maybe

I've reinstalled two games now, but both have downloaded to the new location of steam and ignored the old data that already exists
