Cables for nvidia surround 980ti

Go to solution Solved by SteinerW,

You shouldn't have any issues going from dp to hdmi. The 980ti can drive 3 displays without a single generator. Just run the 3 displays off 3 different ports and you shouldn't have any problems.

I have 3 monitors, 2 HDMI and 1 will be connected to DVI, do I need a special cable for the third monitor, I was reading somewhere that you needed what is called an active HMDI cable (my case dp to hdmi active cable) I would like to know if this is true, and why

Should I pick up one just incase? I Saw on toms hardware that you need one. I don't want to get my third panel and find out that it doesn't work with my cables

did it say that you needed one for a 980ti specifically?

On one of the threads yes. then I went on to read another one that said you only need one for DVI, so does that mean I'll need one for my monitor that runs off my DVI cable, or should I just get another DP to HDMI adapter

You only need a active converter to go from dvi to hdmi because dvi is older, so it doesn't support hdmi. You shouldn't have any issues going from dp to hdmi. The 980ti can drive 3 displays without a single generator.

Awesome thanks. one more thing. should I get a 2nd adapter and run all my panels off HDMI

That isn't true, DVI and HDMI can be adapted between each other.

Well I feel really dumb. Every time I looked for adapters, I could never find them, so I just assumed they didn't exist. Either way, he shouldn't need active adapters.
