Jackstick on amplifier problems

I have borrowed my dad's vinyl player (Denon DP47F) and his amplifier (Denon PMA 737) he got them both when they came out (around 1980's). After some time he but them away. But for at a few weeks ago I found them and wanted to see if it still worked but of course, there was a problem with it.

On the front of the amplifier, there is a 6.5mm jackstick so I found a 6.5mm adapter and sat my earphones in. I could hear the song play but the voices were so low. I thought it was the adapter so I bought a new one and cleaned the amplifier.

After I had done that I tried once again but it was the same problem. I then tried to use speakers. (I don't know what it's called in English but it's those where there is bare cable and you put in a hole with some kind of lock) I then turned on the song and I worked. The voices were clear through the speakers but bad in my headphones.

If you have any idea what it could be please write.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure the 6.5mm jack was a headphone out? You may need to connect to a pre-amplifier via a TRS to 2xRCA splitter/adapter.

Yeah, pretty sure my dad remembered that he used it back in the day. I'm don't know that much about audio but isn't it weird that I can hear all the instruments but not the voice?
