I don't have an installation disk, so is it possible to upgrade from windows 7 pro 32bits to windows 7 pro 64bits? If yes, how? I am gonna backup all my data with this puppy : https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00TKFEEJ4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1

So true it hurts

No upgrade path, you have to re-install.

To get the install media, google "windows 10 download" and go to microsofts site and download the media creation tool. Choose the option for installing on another computer, and choose 64 bit.

Back your shit up, boot of the USB you just created and happy re-installing.

Outta curiosity, what is your current system specs and why do you need to go 64?

When in doubt, re-format.

depends on how you acquired it. MS will pretty much tell you to go to the shop you got it from. you should be entitled to a 64bit install but they might charge for the cost of getting the media to you.

RIP. I missed the windows 7 bit, just assumed 10....oops

In this case, you'll need to acquire a copy of win 7 64-bit in the same edition as what you currently have (home, pro, whatever) and you should be able to re-install it and activate fine. You should be able to do that here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

But as said before, you cannot "upgrade" 32 to 64, it will have to be a clean install.

When in doubt, re-format.

I remember Microsoft used to have a way to legally download the Win7 ISOs free... I think it was called digital river or something?
From there you can make a boot USB/DVD, if you wanna install it... - I don't think you can just flat out go from 32 to 64 though, so you'd need to backup your files.

Isn't this it? Am I missing something?

the FAQ says

  • Not all “system builder” products for Windows 7 are currently available on the site. We are working to add more, but for now, we suggest you contact Support.

I have no idea. Nothing on that site specifically says OEM keys will be denied an .iso download, so if I were in that situation I'd probably just give it a try.

it does say not all system builder PKs work; which means OEM. its good you found this, iv been giving outdated advice

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I think Microsoft stopped offering the Windows 7 .iso for some time. Last I checked, I think that website was redirecting to the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool.

Hopefully that site works for the OP. It's possible to find a download for the Windows 7 .iso from a third-party site and it should be perfectly legitimate to do so, but then they have to hope it's an unaltered copy.

It's a secondary build : q9550 and 4670 with 8gb of ram. But how do we reinstall Windows then? I don't want to buy something.

Who told you to buy anything?  I didn't, I don't see anyone in this thread telling you to buy something.

Don't know what you are referring to about buying stuff. Also, your specs don't matter if the system itself is unchanged, your license should be fine as long as you still have your windows key. If you don't have your windows key, then you will MAY have to buy a new one.

Either way, try the link I posted earlier, if that doesn't work for you, then ask for more help.

When in doubt, re-format.
