Fitbit might buy Pebble

Sunrocks

Good move for fitbit, bad move for everyone else. The likelihood of this going through seems rather high.

I can't imagine Fitbit would buy Pebble and then not support Pebble devices....it wouldn't really make sense.

Google pissed off at least one guy when they decided to shut down a service - never mind not supporting it.

A couple of the articles I've read suggested Fitbit would refund people for the Time 2.

Corporations break promises and can ideas all the time. That's just the flighty tech world we live in now. Rush something to market, and once it's out there, start on the next version, leaving early adopters feeling a bit underwhelmed.

I preordered an LED lighting product at what was supposed to be a great price, not only did it get to Best Buy shelves 3 weeks before I got mine - Best Buy put them on sale for less than my special pre order price.

On page one, there's a link with a statement from Pebble. Anyone who hasn't received their "rewards" yet will get a refund. Anyone else, tough luck. No warranty support effective immediately.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

Pebble has literally only released a single update in the 14 months I've had a PTS/PTR that I cared about -- and that was being able to respond to a notification with voice.

Its the principle more than anything else, the fact that security holes may not he patched and compatibility issues may crop up, and future support seems is going to be non-existent, whilst not going to do that much to the useability in the immediate future I can see values plummeting due to the death of the brand.

Ultimately im happy with the price ive got, kind of kicking myself I didnt put it up for more, £35 ,of depreciation on a bit of tech over a year and a half is pretty good.
