Chipboard-Sheets question o.o help plz :[

hello,im looking at 1ft by 1ft chipboard on amazon and its 2 mm or 1/16 inch something like that and i was thinking of getting it to make L brackets/shelf type of thing to put around the trim by the ceiling to put led light strips onto and make it look half way decent rather then just slapping them on the wall. would these chip boards be good enough to put up on the wall for led light strips? please help meh :( give me your thoughts.
