GTX 1070

PB3

What exact model of the GTX 1070 is the best? A Founders' Edition is preferable, but I don't care that much. I need this information for my graphics card for my new PC build.

Well the cooler isn't the best on a Founder's Editon.

I would say this one http://pcpartpicker.com/product/NJM323/msi-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-video-card-geforce-gtx-1070-armor-8g-oc

and this one are nice to use http://pcpartpicker.com/product/HgPzK8/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-hybrid-gaming-video-card-08g-p4-6178-kr

The hybrid is watercooled, you don't have to buy that one, I would buy it if I could afford it because it's nice to have low temps.

Yeah, I should be able to afford the hybrid.

Yea if you want go with that and are you able to mount the radiator in your case?

Good question. Here is the current part list. I didn't put the processor in there because I'm transferring over my i7-4790K.

I just got me a Gigabyte G1 gaming 1070 and it is awesome. Running at 2025 MHz with stock voltage, and doesn't go above 66 C. The cooler is massive and may not fit in all cases. I had to use the SUDO command to make it fit (ie. a dremel)

When in doubt, re-format.

You can mount the radiator for the GPU at the back and the CPU Radiator at the front or top, the front is preferred. then have fans at the top blowing out the air

I can't help but feel like the Founders Edition is the prettiest one of all regardless... doesn't the internal case temperature thing matters some? since the open cooling systems affect the other hardware temperatures, not sure if that should be taken to count but it is a + for the FE.

Ask 5 different people and you'll get 5 different answers. The truth is they will all perform within about 5% of each other, including the FE.

I would suggest choosing the one that looks the best to you and matches your build, as long as it fits your budget.

An FE isn't very good unless you're gonna install a waterblock for a custom loop.

It's a 150w TPD GPU, not a 250w+ R9 290 or GTX 780. Blower cards have gotten a bit of a bad rep from those older high power cards of a few generations back. These latest GPUs are highly efficient and produce a lot less heat. The coolers are also better designed with the Pascal GPUs. Most people seem to forget this for some reason. They just see blower card and think "loud and hot" but that's not so much the case with these ones.

The FE is fine in most cases, especially for SFF builds or cases with not so good airflow.

I kind of agree (and just ordered one ;) ). You have a good point; the FE cards will kick far less heat inside the case, keeping all components running cooler (one of the reasons I chose the FE). However, in a full tower chassis, like the one the OP is planning to use, it will make very little difference if they setup the case fans effectively. Again, the 1070 is a 150w chip. Even with the open air coolers, they aren't going to kick off a ton of heat.

Also, to the OP; you don't need the hybrid water cooled version of this card. It's crazy overkill in terms of cooling. Makes more sense on a 1080, but not on a 1070, IMHO.

What combination of these is most important to you and in what order?

-Lowest cost

-Silence

-Low temperatures

-Aesthetics/Looks

-Overclocking

Once you figure that out, it will be easier to choose. For example; since they are all so close in terms of performance, I chose the one I liked the look of the most that fit my tight budget, which happened to be a Zotac FE that was on sale for $110 off. I also like overclocking, not to break records, but just for extra performance and even the FE has been shown to OC well by many reviewers. So that was the one for me. :)

Hope that helps.

i personally aim for a white build so the kfa2/galax 1070 hall of fame is nice.... (its a nice card anyway) asus strix oc is always on the top 3 in terms of performance

Hold on...

Are you still transfering your i7-4790k? with the same part list? because then youll have a compatibility issue with the motherboard you chose.

the Z170 chipset has a LGA1151 socket and your i7-4790k is only compatible with the LGA1150 socket.

Pretty much all of the non-FE versions will run cooler and quieter than the FE. So in that case, just pick which ever one you like the look of the most and that matches your build. ;)

Since your motherboard is red and black, the MSI gaming 8G would look nice paired with it, IMO.
