Single fan or push-pull, which is quieter?

waynec94

Hi, currently using a CM 212X as my CPU Cooler, it is really, REALLY noisy.

Intending to change to the Dark Rock 3, there seems to be an option to add a 120mm fan to it for a push-pull configuration, I am wondering if by doing so will decrease the amount of noise generated? Since I recall an LTT vid stating that a double-fanned radiator is bound to be quieter than a single fanned one due to both fans spinning at lower RPMs.

Please advice!

You can run a push/pull at a lower RPM than a single fan, but be aware that it doesn't necessarily translate to a lower temperature. As for radiators a larger radiator is always preferred over a push/pull config.

Push-Pull vs Push/pull will decrease temps marginally and lower noise also marginally. It will allow you to run fans at lower rpms to achieve same cooling performance than with single fan at higher speed. Have you tried to lower current fan speed and tested how much it affects on your temps?
