Performance mode or balanced ?

I don't know if its hurting your computer, but it certainly is hurting your power bill....

Higher performance mode doesn't downclock the CPU/GPU nor does it use any of the power saving features of your peripherals. Balanced will downclock as necessary.

 

There's no harm in leaving it in high performance mode, but there's no harm in leaving it in balanced either.

honestly i've not noticed any difference since switching to balanced (other then better battery life), all performance does is lock your processor speed at full clock, instead of allowing the voltages to drop and save power, in theory constantly running at full speed isn't good for the longterm life of the cpu, but i've not seen issues, I switched as I wanted to reduce energy requirements as much as I could.

There is no downside with Balanced while gaming, if that´s what you worry about.
