so i modded a H100 with a H40 rad that i had laying around. so the loop is now like this RES --> Pump/waterblock --> h100 rad -->H40 rad --> RES

attachment.php?attach_id=cf25d0f3d4e330be179eda01119b3da4&mid=mid.1363241372348%3A76f712df87fecaa875&hash=AQAeQhYJIoFzjh_E

so the problem is that it makes a grinding noise at start up (not a big deal because i never turn off my pc) but after that there is continuous rattling + grinding noise that is very annoying.

what i was thinking is that the original fluid that was in the H100 may have had a lubricant that helped the pump run smoothly.

so does any of you know a 3rd party substitutions for this?

or any other fix that you guys can come up with.

thanks in advance

cheers

I remember reading somewhere that the grinding was a common problem with some of the H100 coolers. That is the main reason i did my first custom loop. I called corsair about my noise and they told me to run the computer on it's back and side to try and get rid of trapped air. not sure if this helps.

I have a H60. Some problem. Some said that the problem was the voltage that the Pump was receving was a bit too much. I haven't had the chance yet, but many had fixed the problem connecting the pump to a fan controller.

No problem. Tell if it worked for you, so I may consider buying a fan controller. My mobo doesn't support any type of fan control, so bad news for my pocket.

Ill do that for sure. Just have figure out which pin is the positive pin one the motherboard header so i connect the correct leads. Already know which one is the rpm monitor. Im going to use the same plug that comes with the unit for the rpm monitor.

so for every one that help me, i wanted to let you know i tried the fix. it had some improvement and it lowered the grinding noise but its still there and annoying than ever,

but what i discovered is that my power supply did't really supply 12v it was more like 11.5v ish, but my mother board was able to level it out to 12v. and it was making some different.

then comes the second thing is that the additional rad is putting extra resistance on the pump and 12v is not enough. so until i figure out how to give a little extra voltage to the pump i will have to put up with the noise.

thanks for the help guys...
