100% CPU usage...??

Dimmizer

Hey LTT Community once again... lol I feel like I have so many computer problems.

So Im back this time because my dad recently got his computer hardware which was a Z170-E and a i5-6500 while I'm running a Z170-A and a i5-6600k.. Now here is where things take a turn.

I run Battlefield 1 and my CPU pings out at 100% and just SITS there.. this is before I even get into a game.. just loading or stting at the main screen my CPU is 100%.. both my dad an I are on completely new installs running all the same software EVGA Presision X and Core temp etc.. I run TeamSpeak an he uses ventrilo.. there's really no differences as to why my CPU pings at 100%..

He runs everything the same as I do but his CPU maxes out at 82% but fluctuates between 78 and 82%... WHY?? I've even got my CPU overclocked to 4.6 while his stays at 3.6 stock.so what gives could my CPU be damaged and I need to file a RMA with Intel or?

Are you sure it's Battlefield that's pegging it out?

Open up task manager and sort it by CPU usage and double check.

Forgot to mention all of my temperatures run fine.. running battlefield  it hits max 61c but that's only on battlefield 1...other games it's lot lower.

Running a Hyper EVO 212 and if it matters.. a THOR V2 Case.

Yeah that's how I noticed.. Bf1 runs at like 92-93% and then the rest of my CPU is all the other stuff in the background.

My dads useage for JUST BF1 was 78 but total CPU was 82%

Hey, it's just isolating variables...if you're not willing to do that then enjoy your pegged CPU xD

That's what the issue is then, try just running the TV since that has a similar resolution and see what happens.

i moved down to a 19" monitor running at 1680x1050 and the game useage went down to 85% but CPU still pegged at 100%

I thought it could be that your resolution is lower, hence the gpu finishes its job faster, therefore your cpu pushes more frames and gets higher usage. But if you're both at 60, that can't be it...

Well you need to switch to dx11 but that tends to use CPU more. When I use dx12 the CPU usage goes down but so does frame rate. Dx11 CPU usage goes up but so do the frames. Can't play on ultra though as it will peg my cpus, even my 1080's. There were some things that can Ben tweaked with windows 10. Alot

of background programs that no one uses.
