21:9 or 16:9

 I have a GTX 1080 w/ 6800k so I can do fine in most scenarios, however I will likely buy a second 1080 down the road. My question is - should I go with triple 21:9 monitors (3440 x 1440), or triple 16:9 (2560 x 1440). Or, I can always do one or 21:9, or 16:9 monitors, it's just I like the idea of surround, something I have never really done before. 21:9 is much more expensive, and I really don't want to be spending more then $2000. Also, 16:9 has more features.

Watch Linus's triple ultrawide to see if you'd be into it, otherwise 16:19 will probably make your life easier and will probably be more reasonable performance wise considering you don't have titan x pascals.

I love 21:9, idk how surround works but could you do one 21:9 in the middle and 16:9 on the sides? I don't know if that's possible tho.

I'm leaning this way for sure. Honestly I am just debating 3 x 16:9's or a single 21:9.
