Hello,

First, let me excuse this dumb question, but I am new to PC building.

My question relates to the USB ports on my case (kinda). So, for my first ever build I decided to go with the Define S, wich sports 2 USB 3.0 ports. The point confusing me, is choosing the internal usb porst on my mb. Does it also have to be usb 3.0 to work, or am I just totally paranoid?

Thanks in advance for anyone taking time to answer this probablly absolutly newbie question.

(PS:Excuse my English, I am german)

Well, you can use an adaptor to go from internal USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 if your board doesn't have a 3.0 header. Without the adaptor, it will have to be plugged into the USB 3.0 header.

The header will look like this

And the cable for your case's front USB 3.0 I/O will look like this.

The USB 2.0 header looks like this, so will physically not fit the 3.0 cable unless you use an adaptor:

1 cord so how ever many are wired to the cord. I think it is normally 2 USB 3.0 ports to one cord.
