Hello, I'm trying to decide between these two for my 2nd monitor and was wondering which of the two is better route, both are $99 (one after rebate). I might also end up mounting the 2nd monitor once I get a 3rd.

If you're gaming, the second monitor (Asus). If you're just watching videos (not editing at all), then first link will be fine.

It will mainly be used for watching videos & coding, however out of curiosity what's the reasoning behind the Asus one being better for gaming?

GTG, grey to grey is a bit better at 5ms. The other one is at 8ms response time. Given that though, the first link doesn't state what type of panel it is but for that price, probably a TN panel... TN Panels are usually better with response times. It's a little difficult to compare GTG with just regular color schemes however because it's just another way of using a different type of measurement to say "I have a lower number with such measurement so this will look lower to consumers, hence better". Marketing I tell you :)

With watching videos and coding, go with either. And go with that DeltaGames said about the monitors "look[ing] most similar to your other one".

I believe the samsung one is a VA and the asus is an IPS.

I currently have the Asus vg248qe 24"

Yup I'd still go with the Asus then. It'll probably look less cringy if you care about that at all and if not, it's still an IPS display.... better colors, more viewing angles... You might enjoy that more? VA panels have very nice blacks ... but I don't think their response time may be accurate because the green LED light changes faster in speed compared to the other two colors so manufacturers usually measure the green light change. That's why when you scroll on a VA panel, you'll see little trails of black ... if you're able to see it.

I read this somewhere on the forums as well as some articles so... as for how much I retain, that's as much as I could LOL

Nevermind the samsung website states it TN, not sure why different sites show different things.

Hahaha so inconsistent. Same deal though, if you care about looks, get the 2nd link Asus monitor. If you don't, then whichever is cheaper.
