help NEED HELP WITH MY GPU !

I have an intel 5500 GPU in my laptop and it has 4 GB of GPU memory but if i use over 1 GB of video memory on GTA 5 it lags but i still have a lot of memory left what can i do ?

 

also i have an intel i5 vpro cpu

8 gb ram

igpus do not have 4gb's of gpu memory you probably have 4gb of ram and 1gb of vram for your igpu

look you have 4gb shared, so thats saying it shared 4gb of your RAM, it wont use it all, it will use like 1-5% of your ram

128mb Dedicated means that there is 128Mb ram that is dedicated for use by the GPU frame buffer. If the frame buffer needs more memory to store more textures etc, it will use system memory and swap the textures it needs in and out as required by the current scene.

 

The lag is being caused because as the scene changes and the GPU needs to swap in new textures, iit is trying to do that in real time but the swap in process from system ram is relatively slow so the GPU has to stop and wait for the textures before it can continue drawing the screen view you are looking at. For web browsing and office automation, that is not time critical but in a game like GTA V is is all very time sensitive making an iGPU not well suited to high level gaming graphics
