SSDs aren't very hot, you will be fine as long as you have airflow (or they aren't inside the heatzone of the GPU & CPU)

Yeah got that. Thing is I'm mounting it (and in future them) on the psu shroud of an NZXT H440, which means it is indeed in the heat zone of the gpu, and reaches when gaming 40°C tops

If the system has ample airflow you are fine, they are cooler than hard drives, and hard drives don't get very hot.

And here's anothe rather odd thing: when gaming the SSD reaches 40, while the HDD doesn't even cross 34. Although must be mentioned the HDD is right in front of the fans, while the SSD right under the gpu

Hello all, I intend on paint my SSD to make it match the build color. Is there any issue I can run into, like thermals too high (paint impeding the heat to be dispersed properly) or something?

Temperature is not an issue with an SSD, but if you wanted a removable option incase of warranty Or to revert back to original you can wrap the SSD in vinyl.

Makes sense, but would be easier to just paint it. Do you have any suggestions on how to cover the pins while painting please?

Thanks. I'm a bit worried cause my SSD already runs at 40 when the pc is under load

My SSD is on the other side of the motherboard (P400S) so it has no cooling and is maxes at 37C when I perform a backup.

You can mask it off but ideally you will want to take it apart to paint the two shells. It would be a good idea to take off decals or logos before painting.
