So I have a bunch of spare parts, I have an old Q8300, and I got a case, power supply, and LGA 775 motherboard free from work.

I'm planning on turning this into a cheap file server.  Thing is, the C2Q Q8300 doesn't have integrated graphics.  I don't need the most powerful GPU out there, just something cheap.  I was looking on PCPartPicker, cause you can list out GPUs by price, and I found a GT 710 for $32.99, it only has 1GB of VRAM

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rtnG3C/msi-video-card-gt7101gd3hlp

But then I found this GT 710 for $33.99 with 2GB of VRAM

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XJM323/asus-video-card-7102slcsm

But then, I found an R7 240 for $34.99, this has 2GB of VRAM

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bL6BD3/msi-video-card-r72402gd3lp

Which would be better to get?  Is the R7 240 better than the 710, and enough so to warrant the 2 extra dollars?

if you need a GPU just to use it for display-out , then get the cheapest thing you can get your hands on thats been released in the last 5 years

I mean, I can find some good deals, issue is I only have a 350W PSU.

I'm also wanting as little power draw with the parts I have as possible.  Like, I know the R7 240 only pulls 30 watts, and I think the GT 710 was like 20.

But I'm wondering if it's best just to save the $2 and go with the 710 or if the 240 offers so much more performance for $2 more.  (I tend to move parts around since I'm always getting free parts and good deals from friends, family, and my job)
