If your talking about iPod touches, the apps you can run ultimately depends on your version of iOS. The iPod Touch second generation can only be updated up to iOS 4.2.1 while the fifth generation can be updated all the way to iOS 9.3.5.

 

You can still use apps on the iPod Touch second generation, but the variety right now will be severally limited as it'll be running a unsupported version of iOS.

i just realized phones now can hold 128gb or 256gb of music on sd card. so no need to spend money on a 80gb classic. is there a noticeable difference between using a phone strictly for music, calender, alarm versus using a apple product?

i will put the money i would have spent on apple to a alright mobile device. should i be looking for big ram or at the processor?
