I currently have a i5-4690K running at 3.50GHz but when I start to play games my CPU utilization skyrockets from a steady 30% to a constant 70%. was wondering what I would need to change about my CPU when I upgrade, if I should upgrade, to reduce that number as I want to start doing more things that require high CPU utilization such as streaming and music creation.

Your running at stock speeds with a K-sku CPU? Do you not have a Z97 board?

I have only the stock cooler and a case with terrible airflow atm, mobo is a ASRock h97m Pro4. Main concern is the PC temperature really.

Wait wait, at IDLE, your cpu usage is sitting at 30%? In that case, there is something wrong. And if there is something else running at ide there is probably something else running while your game is running.

Got the same issue, rig will sit at 12% solid.

But it like that said, if your CPU is doing something it's use or gonna go up

my 4790k @ 4.7 runs at 85-95% in bf1. Can't even turn my graphics up. So I think you're fine.

My laptop cpu i5 (6300u) sits at 1-5% at idle. If your desktop cpu is at 15-30% at idle something is amiss. My 6700k runs most games at around 30-50% usage. It idles at 1% usage.

Haven't  seen anyone say their CPU runs that low on bf1. If one does I'll buy it.
