If you can re-tap it then that should be fine but remember to keep the tap straight otherwise you'll make it worse, I learned that the hard way lol

Running with only three screws, so long as the heatsink is still secure I can't see why it would be a problem, but I would have to recommend that you monitor your temperatures just in case.

You can run it with two screws attached. But make sure the screws are diagonal from each other to give equal pressure.

i worded it wrong, sorry, its a heatsink of the mobo not the one on the cpu, which makes it worse as it only has two screws, so id have to run with it off for one day, not even that, il fix it tomorrow morning, so an evening! but still, will it explode! lol

i know it wont explode lol, but will it be alright for a day, and yeah its for the chipset

So long as it is in contact I think it'll be fine, if you download HWMonitor you can still monitor the temperature for it

What board is it?

z77x ud3h, so should i just put it in with one screw for know?

I don't want to give you advice that could potentially fuck your board so I'm going to say 'do it at your own risk'

But if it is in contact with the chip then I can't really see an issue but you'll need to monitor the temps

Be on the safe side and just don't run the PC until you can get it re-tapped.

so what will happen if it over heats??? and would you risk it?

If it damages the chipset then you'll need a new board, also would I risk it well that depends on whether it is still pretty secure and what I plan on doing with the system.

If it is barely on then yea, don't risk it.

If it was more secure then I'd say that it would be fine for a few days
